He who is generous will be blessed, for he gives some of his food to the poor.
Proverbs 22:9

Patrick William & Kids

Quite simply,

To Raise Up a Child
exists
to help children
in need.

We have seen their faces: orphans, street kids, victims of abuse and abandonment, or of the scourge of AIDS.  Whatever the cause, the solution is the same. Love them. Don’t walk away when you see their plight.  Learn their names and listen to their stories.  Help them.

That’s why we’re actively working with partners in Africa right now to try to help them, and that’s why we’re longing to do more.  We have met them.

Our goal is simple:  to lift the burden of the day-to-day struggle to survive off of their small shoulders, to provide for their most basic needs as children;  a home, food,  clothing, health care and someone to look after them and to love them.   To set them free to be children again and to dream, and then provide them with an education and the tools they need to realize those dreams.

We want to give them back the childhood that has been stolen from them and offer them the hope of a bright future.  We want to help them to be all that they were created to be and to do all that they were created to do.

With that goal in mind, we are working with partners in Africa who have the heart, will, vision and plan to help them, but who need outside resources to move forward.  These are people who live in poverty themselves, but who jump at the opportunity to reach out in love and make a difference in the lives of these children in their own communities.

We are currently involved in four African countries and are exploring the need in the fifth.  The problem is huge but it is clear -- the kids need our help -- and the solution is in place.  All that remains if for more people to catch the vision and want to be a part of it too.

We’re glad you stopped by for a visit and it is our hope and prayer that you will look more closely, ask questions, and discover that this is a way for you to truly make a difference.  We need you because the kids need you.  If we work together, it doesn’t take much to make a huge impact in the lives of a whole lot of children.  We hope you’ll want to join us.

Rebecca Patricia Nasali is 8 years old but has wisdom and insight well beyond her years.  Her mother died about 3 years ago, her father remarried but was detached from the family by his drinking and her step-mother beat her. Another man she calls an ‘uncle’ took her in but he abused her even worse.
A pastor and his wife nearby became aware of her plight and tried to help but were threatened, so they asked Patrick to take her into the children’s home.  Thankfully, she is now an absolutely delightful member of the family who has become a happy child who loves singing and dancing, and does exceptionally well in school.  She says she’d like to become a nurse some day.
